Keep rehearsals focused

๐Ÿ‘ฅ๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ–ŠREHEARSAL STRATEGY FOR POWERFUL PERFORMANCES๐Ÿ“๐ŸŽผ Season 1 Episode 2.โœ๐Ÿ“– ๐Ÿ–Œ KEEP REHEARSALS FOCUSED ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽต Itโ€™s very easy to squander valuable rehearsal time if you donโ€™t predetermine what you will be practicing. Make a โ€œto-do listโ€ of what youโ€™ll cover during rehearsal โ€” and stick to it. Donโ€™t make the list unrealistically long and donโ€™t veer off it. If something comes up mid- rehearsal, such as certain singers need more practice of their own parts, do not overflog it, skip that song and go onto the next item on your list. Keeping rehearsals productive keeps morale high. For more lessons: https://chat.whatsapp.com/JWqVkdz3U3tFkLzS5Ksz9X

Be patient

Be patient If youโ€™re new to singing you might think that โ€˜properโ€™ singers can pick up a song by hearing it just once. They donโ€™t. Even for a professional singer, it might take up to six months for a new song to really settle in. So after the first stab at learning a new song and when you get home you canโ€™t remember a single word or even how the main tune goes, donโ€™t panic. Slowly, slowly over the coming weeks and months that part of your brain where songs live will absorb the song until it feels like youโ€™ve known it forever. Every one on the same boat

Everyone is in the same boat โ€“ looking around, you might assume that everyone else is comfortable, confident and knows what theyโ€™re doing, but youโ€™re wrong! Youโ€™d be surprised how many other people feel the same as you: they canโ€™t sing, they donโ€™t know what theyโ€™re doing, everyone else is better than them, itโ€™s hard, For more lessons : https://chat.whatsapp.com/JWqVkdz3U3tFkLzS5Ksz9X

To a singer, there is nothing worse than having a raging infection in the ears, nose and throat. For many years, we were taught that drinking milk actually produced phlegm. This turns out to be a myth , and yet some singers do get congested when they use milk products.

Group Bowing etiquette

Group Bowing etiquette When bowing with others, a leader should be designated to lead the bow. Use your peripheral vision to stay with the other members of your group. Nothing ruins a great display of ensemble playing, blending and togetherness like a failure to bow all at the same time. For more lessons : https://chat.whatsapp.com/JWqVkdz3U3tFkLzS5Ksz9X

SPICY FOODS โŒโŒโŒ Garlic and other spices are fantastic for the immune system, but they are hard on the vocal folds. They can also irritate the stomach, causing acid reflux. Youโ€™ll also want to avoid foods with nuts or small particles that could get lodged in your throat.

Bowing etiquette A bow is a simple thing and a nice gesture to your audience that you appreciate and acknowledge their applause. For more lessons : https://chat.whatsapp.com/JWqVkdz3U3tFkLzS5Ksz9X

Also remember that caffeine is a real drug and it can hype you up. Performing is exciting enough by itself; you donโ€™t want to flood your body with caffeine and adrenaline.

Face the audience

Face the audience Just like your right to face your accuser, the audience has the right to see the face of the people they are applauding. No matter where you sit in the ensemble, face the audience when you stand while receiving applause. For more lessons : https://chat.whatsapp.com/JWqVkdz3U3tFkLzS5Ksz9X

Remember that food is fuel, but donโ€™t overtank! Singing depends on good breath management. If you eat too much, your digestive system will slow down and your abdominal muscles will relax and youโ€™ll find it harder to support your air.

REACTIONS TO OTHERS

Reactions to others the worst thing you can do is look at them. They know they messed it up and turning your head towards them in disgust is not going to bring back any fracks or chips that are now in the musical world to stay. Keep your reactions, to your playing and the playing of others, to yourself. For more lessons : https://chat.whatsapp.com/JWqVkdz3U3tFkLzS5Ksz9X

REACTION TO OTHERS

Reactions to others When your friend has a big solo that theyโ€™ve been working on and their run-throughs in rehearsal havenโ€™t been the smoothest, donโ€™t watch them. Turning your head to stare at them while they play is bad etiquette, distracting to the audience and putting more pressure on the soloist. I send all my concentration and focus their way with positive thoughts and extreme confidence in them. I am a big believer in this and it has served my fellow ensemble members and I quite well. But there are some snacks that stimulate saliva production, bringing relief to singers who suffer from โ€œdry mouth.โ€ These include apples, lemons, hard candy and ginger tea. If youโ€™re feeling hoarse or scratchy, a spoonful of honey will soothe your throat and fight off bacteria.

REACTIONS

Reactions If you miss a note or an entrance, nothing draws attention to your mistake like a raised eyebrow, a stomp in disgrace, a โ€œwoopsโ€ or worse: an expletive. Keep it to yourself. Chances are the โ€œWhodunnit?โ€ crowd has no idea who the culprit is, letโ€™s keep it that way, donโ€™t help them solve the case. For more lessons : https://chat.whatsapp.com/JWqVkdz3U3tFkLzS5Ksz9X

They canโ€™t afford to get dizzy onstage, so they avoid sugary and starchy foods that could spike their blood sugar. Instead, I advice you pick foods with a low glycemic index . Have balanced proteins and carbs. meals included salmon and salad, eggs and toast, or chicken and rice.

loud page turns

Loud page turns Turn the page as quickly and quietly as possible. Nothing sets the mood quite like a rip-roaring page turn for a soft oboe solo with light orchestration: be respectful, be aware. For more lessons : https://chat.whatsapp.com/JWqVkdz3U3tFkLzS5Ksz9X

Shuffle your music

Shuffling your music The rule is to wait until the applause is done and then get the next piece up unless your director has a โ€œplanned-surreptitious-switchโ€ to the next piece. Acknowledge and appreciate the applause while itโ€™s happening. Not everyone gets applause. Fiddling with something else while people are applauding tells them that you could care less if they applaud or not. For more lessons : https://chat.whatsapp.com/JWqVkdz3U3tFkLzS5Ksz9X

๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿˆ BEST FOODS FOR SINGING ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ‡ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿ“Season 1 Episode 3. PROTEIN ๐Ÿฅ‘๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘ Just like athletes, singers need protein to maintain their strength and stamina. Many singers like fish and poultry, because they are high in protein but low in fat. But it advisable to include iron-rich red meats on the day before a performance. For Vegetarian singers, you can make do of protein shakes and energy bars.

TOE TAPPING FUN

TOE TAPPING FUN Tapping your foot in rehearsals or practice sessions is very welcome. Tapping your foot during a performance distracts from the performance. When no one elseโ€™s foot is tapping and yours is, that spells a distraction. And as I said, the audience eye level is right at your feet so that hoedown happening with your foot is practically a spectacle to them. Especially since dress shoes tend to make more noise when hitting the ground than your average tennis shoes. Keeping the beat is very important so if you have to tap, tap your big toe inside your shoe instead of your foot. For more lessons : https://chat.whatsapp.com/JWqVkdz3U3tFkLzS5Ksz9X

VEGGIES AND FRUITS

๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿˆ BEST FOODS FOR SINGING ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ‡ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿ“Season 1 Episode 2. VEGGIES AND FRUITS๐Ÿฅ‘๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘ Singers pile their plates full of green leafy vegetables. These help the body shed toxins and fight diseases. For optimal vocal performance,I know of a vocalist who is a vegan and she selects raw foods packed with nutritional value; before singing, she drinks juicy fruit or take orange/water melon and digest it with water, and there she goes performing beautifully.

best food for singing

๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿˆ BEST FOODS FOR SINGING ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ‡ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿ“SEASON 1 EPISODE 1. WATER ๐Ÿฅ‘๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘ Dehydration is a singerโ€™s worst nightmare. Dry vocal cords are less flexible and more susceptible to damage. But donโ€™t wait until the last minute to get a drink! The vocal folds are one of the last places in the body to get hydrated . So you canโ€™t moisten your throat (from the inside) until you have consumed enough water to hydrate all of your vital organs. One of the singers in my survey reported drinking up to a gallon of water on the day before a performance. They drink more water as soon as they wake up the next morning. And they keep a couple of water bottles backstage during the performance.

๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿ“FOOD FOR SINGERS>>SERIES๐Ÿ‹๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ‡ For a singer, eating right is a balancing act. Food is fuel, and you need enough fuel to get through your show. But too much food could make you lethargic on stage, and the wrong kind of food could irritate your throat, ruining your performance. When people travel to far-off places, they usually relax their diets and enjoy the local cuisine. But singers do not have the same luxury. When we travel to Abuja or Gnana for songs ministrations,we have to think about how the food will affect the voice.

TALKING

Talking If youโ€™re talking during service or in a music concert, youโ€™re distracting from the performance. Donโ€™t talk during the performance. Ever. Avoid gossip generally. For more lessons : https://chat.whatsapp.com/JWqVkdz3U3tFkLzS5Ksz9X

singing diet

๐Ÿ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿ“Episode 3. What Helps you to De-Gunk The Throat๐Ÿฅ‘๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘ You've probably heard that honey/lemon/and hot water are helpful if you have mucous in your throat. But remember that lemon is drying so don't overdo it. I prefer gargling, here's the best way: If your throat feels gunky and/or irritated: mix 1/4 teaspoon baking soda + one cup warm water. Take a small amount of fluid in your mouth and gargle at a high pitch-this causes your vocal cords to contract and rise closer to where you are actually gargling (your epiglottis will prevent the fluid from actually reaching your vocal cords). Spit and repeat several times.

Singing communication

Singers must communicate with emotional honesty what a song is saying. The Experiences vocalist have this skill. Successful singers connect with and involve their audience on an emotional, often subliminal, level. There is nothing mystical about this connection; it is a technique that can be learned. What Not To Eat Or Drink Before Singing๐Ÿฅ‘๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘ Foods that add mucous: milk, ice cream and other dairy products Foods that dry the throat: citrus fruits, alcohol Throat Irritants: Overly spicy foods, coffee Sodas and other fizzy drinks put lots of air in your stomach Ice cold anything: your throat will constrict. Warm water or herbal tea is best.

โ™ฅSEASON โ™ฅ ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿ“DIET FOR SINGERS SERIES๐Ÿ‹๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ‡ Every body has different sensitivities, so you'll need to experiment with different foods and see what works best for you. ๐Ÿ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿ“Episode 1 When to Eat๐Ÿฅ‘๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘ Think of yourself as an athlete and eat that way: an athlete wouldn't stuff herself with food just before running the mile and neither should you. A full stomach inhibits the movement of the diaphragm-you'll have difficulty taking in full breaths and you'll be prone to burping. Don't starve yourself, either--singing is hard work, you need fuel. A normal meal an hour or two (two is better) before a singing session works best. If you need to eat between sets go for non-bulky, easy to digest food. Before a show I like eggs--high protein, low density.

Singing strength

Singing is not only about producing a pleasing and accurate tone, staying in tempo, phrasing, and responding to the lyrics to produce a beautiful sound. Coupled with these and other technical aspects of performance, singing is also about stimulating an emotional response from an audience, a reaction which is identical to the effect of good acting on those who watch, listen and appreciate its art. Warm Up

The Warm Up Itโ€™s bad form to practice things youโ€™re about to perform on stage right before the concert. And really, if youโ€™re practicing it on stage 30 seconds before the concert starts your fate is already sealed. Practicing it on stage before the concert could give the audience the impression you arenโ€™t prepared. And when that passage comes along in the music, everyone who heard you vigorously working on it before the concert is going to pay special attention to how you do on it in the performance. Thus pulling their ears from the sound of the ensemble to YOU. For more lessons : https://chat.whatsapp.com/JWqVkdz3U3tFkLzS5Ksz9X

Dress Appropriately

Dress Appropriately Generally if you are on a stage and the audience is in a seat, their eye level view is of your shoes and socks. White sox or tennis shoes during a concert are a floggable offense to any conductor. It looks bad and distracts from the performance. Whatever the concert dress code is, follow it. If you canโ€™t dress together how are you expected to play together? If you canโ€™t follow rules, how can you follow music? For more lessons : https://chat.whatsapp.com/JWqVkdz3U3tFkLzS5Ksz9X
